DataRealm to Return to International Manufacturing Technology Show

(Windsor, ON August 29, 2012) DataRealm has announced that it will participate in the 2012 edition of one of the world’s largest manufacturing events, the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS 2012) slated for Chicago’s McCormick Place, Monday to Saturday, September 10-15. DataRealm will be located in booth E-4771 in the show’s Industrial Automation section of the Centre’s East building.

Since DataRealm’s participation at the bi-annual event in 2010 the company has expanded its list of clients in key North American manufacturing centres and its presence in the United States though the formation of DataRealm Solutions Inc., its new US division.

Its ever growing assignment list includes controls engineering and system integration projects at major original equipment manufacturers as well as auto parts manufacturers and automation and assembly system vendors.

At the show DataRealm will focus on its traceability capabilities which company President Dave Fortin says continues to be an issue among manufacturers.

“The manufacturing sector, particularly in the automotive industry but in other sectors as well, has been through a significant revamp over the past two years. A number of large players have emerged stronger and better able to meet the challenges of the changing manufacturing market. On the minds of the managers that we deal with on a daily basis is the need to track everything that happens in a plant.”

He added that “Technologies used on the plant floor have continued to evolve and the use of new interface devices, like hand held tablets, is increasing rapidly. This evolution in approach and technology is ideally-suited to our company given that we have developed core competencies in both controls engineering, with a complement of credentialed engineers, and in software systems integration and have forged solid relationships with a number of advanced technology providers that are leading the market in all areas of data collection and analysis.”
Fortin says that this has seen the company more involved in very exciting projects that have included”

- carrying out complete retrofits of control devices and automation while production continued, thereby avoiding disruptive downtime and saving the plant millions of dollars.

- increasing information flow from devices on the plant floor to the front office - for exacting production data to support accurate decision making, and,

- integrating plant data to corporate MIS.

“Often,” he says, "DataRealm’s role is to provide the engineering skills needed to solve in-plant issues in a way that protects current investments. Today’s manufacturers are looking for ways to do things better with new technology or capitalizing on installed technology. Our business is growing based on our ability to engineer unique solutions that are appropriate to the cost structure of a plant.”
